Professional Arborist Services in Port Kennedy
This Is Our Home Suburb
Most tree crews you’ll ring are driving down from somewhere else. We’re not. Port Kennedy is where the business is based, which makes a practical difference, quotes happen sooner, jobs start when we say they will, and if something needs a second look we’re ten minutes away rather than an hour.
It also means we know these streets properly. We know which blocks have the big old tuarts left over from before the estates went in, which ones back onto the reserve, and how the trees along here behave when the wind gets up off the water. That’s not something you get from a map.

Sand, Salt and Trees That Let Go

Port Kennedy is built on old dune country. The soil is sand a long way down, and that changes how trees hold themselves up. Roots spread out wide and shallow looking for water instead of anchoring deep, so a tree can be in perfect health and still not be gripping much.
Add the salt wind coming off the water and you get trees that lean, lift at the base, or come over in a storm without much warning. The signs are usually there first, a fresh lean, soil cracking or humping around the trunk, a canopy that’s suddenly one-sided. If you spot any of that, get our Port Kennedy arborists to look before the next front comes through, not after.

Tree Lopping & Removal in Port Kennedy

When a tree’s dead, sick, storm-damaged or simply in the wrong spot, we take it out. Blocks here are a decent size but the houses sit close, so we climb the tree and lower it down in sections on ropes rather than felling it. Nothing swings into a roof, a fence or the neighbour’s shed.
Plenty of trees don’t need removing at all, though. If it’s just crowding the house or blocking the light, cutting it back does the job and you keep the tree. The difference is in the cuts. Done properly, a tree comes back strong and balanced. Hacked at, it throws out weak growth that costs you again in a year or two.
Once the tree’s down we can grind the stump out below ground level, so you can turf it, plant something else or pave straight over without it sprouting back.
Working Near the Reserve

A fair few Port Kennedy properties sit against the conservation land, and that comes with a bit of extra care. Some of that vegetation is protected, so what you can clear on your own block isn’t always obvious. There’s wildlife in there too, black cockatoos among them, and we check trees for nesting before we start rather than finding out halfway through.
If your place backs onto the reserve and you’re not sure where you stand, we’ll find out for you before anything gets cut.

FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
F.A.Q

Why do trees fall over in Port Kennedy when they look healthy?
It's the sand. Roots spread wide and shallow instead of digging deep, so a Port Kennedy tree can be in good health and still be barely anchored. A strong sea breeze is often all it takes. We can check how stable yours actually is before it becomes a problem.
How much does it cost to remove a tree in Port Kennedy?
Tree removal in Port Kennedy usually runs from a few hundred dollars for a small tree up to a few thousand for a large or awkward one. Size, position, access and whether you want the stump ground out all affect it. You get a fixed price before we start.
My block backs onto the reserve. Can I clear the trees on it?
On your own land you've generally got a fair bit of say, but vegetation near the reserve can be protected and the rules aren't the same for every block. We'll check what applies to your place before any cutting happens.
How quickly can you get here?
Usually faster than most. We're based in Port Kennedy, so a quote is often a same-week job and we're not fitting you in around a long drive. If a tree's come down and it's urgent, tell us when you call.
